Our rescue story began in September 2019, when we received a call that would forever change our lives. One of us was contacted by a coworker who had just stopped on the freeway to rescue a tiny, two-week-old gray tabby kitten. The kitten, who had been abandoned just seconds before, was found in the middle of the road. Without hesitation, our coworker rushed to save him, and we named him 'Freeway.'
Freeway, our first rescue, was the spark that ignited our passion for helping animals in need. He quickly stole our hearts with his sweet, loving nature. Despite the hardship he had endured, he turned out to be an absolute ray of sunshine, and his story inspired us to take action.
Motivated by Freeway’s resilience and sweetness, we—two sisters—decided to combine our love for animals and start our own rescue. We founded Purr Foundation, Corp to give other cats like Freeway a chance at a safe, loving home.
Fast forward to today, and Freeway is a healthy, happy 5-year-old, weighing in at 15 pounds and standing an impressive 2 and a half feet tall. He remains a reminder of why we do what we do: to help cats in need and ensure they have the best possible life, just like our very first rescue.
